Heliothis phloxiphaga
A moth with golden colored upperwings and patterned underwings on gumwood plant. Seen in the evening in the foothills
They moved her image to the species page for Helicoverpa zea which means that an expert determined the species
Actually that is only a suggestion. I wold suggest sending to butterflies and moths of North America because an expert will ID it more than a suggestion.
according to bug guide this is Helicoverpa zeahttp://bugguide.net/node/view/1280675
A day flying moth!
Thanks so much Jellis.I read that there are Polyphemus moths on top of Mt Diablo!
This might be a Heliothis phloxiphagahttp://bugguide.net/node/view/67483/bgim...
