Lonchura striata
Found this bird just outside my house. Usually will be in a group and they make a lot of noise. As I have noticed, they are very active and keep flying around quickly. These are small birds and are very similar to sparrows.
The reference should ideally be a resource which serves as an on-line field guide, as per our FAQs. We only accept references to personal websites in your profile page, although a reference to a specific page which has details of the organism concerned is usually acceptable.
When you create a suggestion you just put the url to the appropriate page in the reference box which is immediately below the Scientific name box which opens when you click on Suggest ID (it says Wikipedia, EOL, etc.). Unfortunately it is not editable so if you get it wrong you have to start again.
If doing it on a spotting it goes in the "other" field if it is not a Wikipedia or EOL reference
I agree Lenny but can you correct your spelling of striata, then I can double it. Please note we are now also requesting a reference with all ID suggestions, which should become mandatory with the new program when it is rolled out. This should help to reduce all the false IDs we are seeing. You will need to resubmit the ID, then delete the first one.
