A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
A minute clump of mushrooms on dead wood. The whole clump was only about 6 mm tall. A close look at this clump revealed about five fruiting bodies arising from a common base (caespitose), the stipes were black with white hairs, very thick towards the base and narrow closer to the caps which were ? cream coloured and also covered with white hairs. Pic #2 shows their size relative to a moderate size leaf and Pic #3 shows this clump growing with two other types of fungi - a yellowish gilled fungus and greyish jelly discs (top left corner)
Damp decaying Eucalyptus log in a reserve
I don't think I'd be able to locate this log again and sadly, won't be able to see what becomes of this clump. An ID would be difficult but it was interesting to see the thick black hairy stipes in a dense cluster. They felt quite tough.
