Lauxaniid Fly

Homoneura occidentalis

Description:

Small yellow fly about 5 mm long with black, spotted wings.

Habitat:

Citrus leaf in the backyard.

Notes:

"Although from this photo you can't tell the difference between the 2 species in the Homoneura occidentalis group (H. occidentalis and H. arizonensis), this photo is very likely to be Homoneura occidentalis. In California, H. arizonensis only occurs in the very southeastern part of the state (and east to Arizona, of course)"

Thank you, Sckel. Your collection is amazing! These flies are very common here too. I find that they're much more mellow late in the evening. I had to use the flash because it was do dark.
