Paropsis marmorea
Body length 8mm.
Found on a young Eucalyptus sapling
Thanks Martin, your suggestion looks good & I'll go with that. ID changed. Thanks again.
What a great spotting!!!
This guy differs a bit from the (one) P. maculata that I have seen.
I offer an image of Paropsis marmorea that I would like you to consider.
http://www.forestryimages.org/browse/det...
I offer these notes based only on my opinion.
1/ tiny dots are variable and not diagnostic.
2/ The first of the two largest dots in each elytra is paired in P. maculata.
3/ The second of the two largest dots on the elytra are larger and closer together in P. maculata.
4/ This looks generally like Paropsis marmorea but a bit more strongly embossed in yellow.
5/ Images on ALA website are wrong, and of Paropsisterna variicollis and misleading but the distribution is probably correct for P. marmorea.
What do you think?
