Agaricus augustus

Description:

A round, smooth, maroon speckled cap about 60mm wide. Pink-brown gills (shrinking near margin) ring halfway on stipe. Growing in open grassy area.

Habitat:

In a local nature reserve adjoining a national park.

Notes:

Probably a young Agaricus augustus

Thanks very much CV. I agree Agaricus.. We have seen The Prince here before but I can't find any records of A.perobscurus. The only thing missing is that dark centre on the cap of A.augustus I'll have another look at them tomorrow.

This looks like an Agaricus sp.
If it would be in the woods, or around the edges of a woodland it might be the Prince (A. Augustus).
It also looks like Agaricus Perobscurus... but again, no woods... plus I have no idea if these even grow in Australia.
