Northern Fantail

Rhipidura rufiventris

Description:

This beautiful little Northern Fantail has quite dark grey/charcoal on the upper body. It has a black side of face with a small white eyebrow. They have a white throat, a dark grey and white streaked chest and a buff belly. For a fantail, the Northern Fantails tend to fan their tails not so much.

Habitat:

Flitting around in amongst this tree on the edge of the garden at Goombaragin on the Dampier Peninsula.

Notes:

These little Fantails are quite curious and will often flit around close by where you are, checking you out as much as you check them out! This little one was very happy to pose for some photos. Another reference: Atlas of Living Australia site https://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:... There is surprisingly very little information about Northern Fantails on the internet.
