Pink-spotted Hawkmoth

Agrius cingulata

Description:

Large brown and black mottled moth with two rows of pink markings on abdomen. Length overall 43 mm, length of abdomen 30 mm, width 11 mm.

Habitat:

Suburban area on a mesic, tropical, insular lowland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted in my garage, "deader 'n' a can of corned beef". Coloration of wings reminiscent of a Black Witch Moth (Ascalapha odorata) but abdominal coloration suggests to me that it is not that species.

Not to worry, Tukup. I'm no expert either so I always satisfy myself via my own research that a suggested ID is correct before accepting it. Thanks again.
