Description:

Large cactus (3-5m high), organized in cladodes of 50cm high, 25cm width, 3cm thick. Cladodes are stems that have evolved to ensure photosynthesys in absence of leaves (minimum loss of water in arid area) Flowers are bright yellow to orange-red; multiple petals. Fruits are edible.

Habitat:

Arid area, on the edge of Langue de Barbarie National Park.
