Killdeer

Charadrius vociferus

Description:

A small bird with long legs, a fast runner (but also flies). Two black rings around its neck, and a bright orange eye.

Habitat:

Killdeer are a migratory bird found throughout North & South America. They are a shorebird, but can be spotted on lawns, golf courses, and other open spaces. This one was spotted in a park on the Toronto waterfront.
