Giant Garden Slug

Limax maximus

Description:

This native of Europe, Asia minor, and Northern Africa has made its way into the Western Hemisphere, where it has become a common garden pest consuming both live and decaying plant material. Although hermaphroditic, they cannot self-fertilize (Simpson 1901). These nocturnal slugs may reach a total length of up to 10 cm. (approximately 4) inches.

Habitat:

They can be found intemperate regions with high moisture contents with available water.
