89 Butterfly

Diaethria neglecta

Description:

They are very active butterflies, easily disturbed, and rarely settle for more than a few seconds at a time in one spot, but they will return repeatedly to the same patch of ground. - 'learnaboutbutterflies.com'

Habitat:

tropical rainforest, amazon

Notes:

I spotted this near Salto del Golondrino near Mocoa. Like the description says, they don't stay put for long, I was lucky to get this close and get a clear shot.

Thanks NewYorker and L E. I've put in my notes where I found him. L E, it does seem like 98, but I'm going with the 89 ID from learnaboutbutterflies.com.

Love the pic, doesn't it seem like it would be a 98 butterfly though? LOL
