Red Weevil

Rhodobaenus sanguineus

Description:

Red Weevil, 5 mm long, black legs and head and a black stripe on the thorax. Family Dryophthoridae (Palm Weevils) however, this species does not feed on Palms.

Habitat:

Abandoned field, semi-urban area, outskirts of San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
