This delightful bug was constantly on the move - except when he was feasting on a breadcrumb - so it was quite a challenge to capture his cuteness on camera… Length approx. 1.5 cm / 0.6 inches. No ID yet. Is he related to a cotton stainer bug (Pyrrhocoridae)? Any ID tips would be appreciated!

right on!
Thanks Larry! Like you, most of my spottings are right here - around where we live! (In fact, many seem to share our home.) ... You have an AMAZING collection, by the way! Costa Rica nature totally rocks! :)
Thanks for the follow Ann. Lovely spotting collection you have there!

Beautiful bug!
Thanks so much Chief RedEarth & Bayucca! I'll check those tips/hints out.
Personally I have always difficulties with these type of bugs. Heteroptera, probably not Pentatomoidea, but try to look for Lygaeidae, Pyrrhocoridae or relatives. And you always should consider the Coridae. Take it as a hint. I did not find any match doing a quick search.
