Twin-spotted Sphinx

Smerinthus jamaicensis

Description:

A medium-sized (5.0-7.0 cm wingspan) sphinx moth. Male forewing is gray with black and white markings; female forewing yellowish-brown with dark brown and white markings. Hindwings are pink with a wide white border and a large black spot that contains two parallel blue spots or bars.

Habitat:

Open woodland, woodland edges and clearings, shrub stands

Notes:

The brown colour of the forewings would make this is a female moth. It's always to nice to see the Sphinx moths return.
