Garrulus glandarius
A reasonably common woodland bird and member of the crow family. Jays have a special relationship with the oak tree with acorns making up a large proportion of their diet.
Deciduous woodland.

Lovely pic!
Thanks Ali, :-) they are lovely birds. There were a pair of them coming down to feed regularly. They are not exactly rare but they are one of the more impressive species to spot here in England.
