It is a hybrid of Magnolia champaca and Magnolia montana.For the strongly fragrant flowers, it is widely cultivated as an ornamental in Southeast Asia. Southern Chinese women often clip the flowers to clothes because of its plesant aroma, it can also be extracted essence or prepare yulan tea.
