Apple Clearwing Moth

Synanthedon myopaeformis

Description:

The wingspan is 18 - 26 mm. The length of the forewings is 9 - 11 mm. It has a slender dark blue-black body with orange-red band across the abdomen. Wings are transparent (lack scales), the front pair narrow, shiny and slightly dark; hind wings are much shorter. The moth flies from May to August depending on the location.

Habitat:

It is found in Europe, the Near East and North Africa.
