Japalura swinhonis
There are five species of Japalura in Taiwan. Among them, Swinhoe's japalura is the biggest one. Total length can be 31 cm (including tail). They are sexual dimorphism. Male is much bigger than female and have two bright yellow stripe beside it's body. Female don't have stripe but dorsal part may have a brown pattern.
Lowland forest and forest edge. This species often occur disturbed habitat such as nearby human house, park, fruit garden, etc.
In National Taiwan University, Swinhoe's japalura is a common species. Usually after spring comes, they start to appear in whole campus. It's really glad to see them. Only I wish people can drive slower and Swinhoe's japalura can more aware of bicycles and cars. Then hope death rate of Swinhoe's japalura will decline.
