American Goldfinch

Spinus tristis

Description:

Small bird, dull brown with blackish wings with two pale wingbars, except during their mating season when males are bright yellow with black cap, black and white markings.

Habitat:

Woodland,trees,grasses and fences.

Notes:

I enjoy seeing the color change in this small bird. The trees and fences are dotted in yellow. In the dull brown they have great camouflage and become less social.
