A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
odonata
Herein, a dragonfly, which are apparently very efficient predators, has pinned down a ladybug, and using its powerful proboscis or mandibles (I'm guessing), pries apart the speckled protective carapace. Then she dines. I love seeing through those stealthy predator gossamer wings, to the the plants and the ground below, where the word "CONTROL" is emblazoned.
This image is in a very sunny spot, within a nice cleared full lawn acre, dense with mostly deciduous trees on the outskirts, and one old apple tree in the middle, lots of plants and gardens surrounding the house. Plus I am haphazardly growing mint and pumpkin outside. There is a sluggish stream nearby.
I am neither a scientist or a photographer. I just enjoy celebrating and sharing things, and I share my words instead of science, for what the image is, and why would you might enjoy it. My references are from my general knowledge, and hearsay from a couple smart people.
