Yellow-footed Green Pigeon or Hariyal

Description:

Shy, plump pigeon with green-yellow colour that blends perfectly with the leafy background making it difficult to spot. It has violet coloured eyes.

Habitat:

Frugivorous; so it loves fruit bearing trees. It adores the berries of the sacred Peepul tree Ficus religiosa, which it is eating in the picture..

Notes:

It usually arrives un-noticed but is always part of a flock. No discernible sound....such a cooing.
