Amazonian leaf-footed bug

Diactor bilineatus

Description:

Colourful leaf-footed bug but very large leaf extensions on the back legs. The photo is the best description of it.

Habitat:

Small area of rain forest at around 450 m. Beside a town but unspoilt rainforest close to a river.

Notes:

The most spectacular leaf-footed bug I have seen - not quite the largest but still large. A specific ID is being sought.

I love the really spectacular ones like these but generally weevils and shieldbugs appeal to me more.

Thanks Mark. There are some amazing insects in the world. It is hard to understand how they developed such amazing camouflage or mimicry.

Thank you tmvdh.
I was really keen to get an ID and that would seem to fit.
