Couroupita guianensis
Deciduous tree in the family Lecythidaceae that can grow up to 35m, leaves from 8 to 31cm, brightly colored flowers are strongly scented and in large bunches, large spherical fruit up to 25cm wide, giving to the species the "cannonball" name.
Spotted at Taman Langsat - Jakarta. It is native to the rainforests of Central and South America and to the southern Caribbean and being cultivated in many other places as a botanical curiosity or as a sacred tree in Hindu and Buddist temples in India, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia countries.
Is also known by several common names, including Abricó-de-macaco or Ayahuma (Brazil), Shiv Kamal or "Kailaspati" (India), Nagalingam tree in Tamil, is an evergreen tree allied to the Brazil Nut (Bertholletia excelsa).
