White-breasted Woodswallow

Artamus leucorhynchus

Description:

Male and female similar in a blueish grey colouring with white underparts, blue grey legs, lighter blue grey beak. These birds grow to about 17cm and gather in small groups feeding on insects. A chatty and cheeky bird.

Habitat:

Found throughout most of Australia except far south west and south. Usually seen near water in woodland areas. Often takes over use of old Magpie Lark (Peewee) mud nests.

Notes:

A cheeky family of woodswallows lives here, these ones hanging outside my window picking up rocks moving them where they think they look best, showing rocks & sticks off to me through the window.
