Spotting

Description:

Pink-purple, narrow petals with yellow dots on the tips; flower is about the size of my thumb; plant is short

Habitat:

I found this in a field toward the end of the school year a few years ago. The weather was very hot and dry. I believe I've also seen this plant in Kansas before.

Notes:

I'm pretty sure this is some type of thistle, but I'd like to know its scientific name.

Thank you! But I just realized that without pictures of the leaves, it's going to be hard to figure out exactly which kind it is--hopefully I'll see the plant again soon.

It's one of the sensitive briers - Mimosa sp.
(not necessarily nutalli)
