Glistening Inky Cap

Coprinellus micaceus

Description:

2 cm tall, the cap on the one I'm holding is about 1.5 cm across. Found with some larger specimens just beginning to fruit.

Habitat:

Roadside in some woodchips in northeast Grand Rapids.

Notes:

Edible, but I'm not going to try it since they are known to absorb a lot of air pollutants. I wouldn't trust any from roadside.
