Barn Swallow

Hirundo rustica

Description:

Blue-black upper feathers, reddish-brown or orange brown forehead, chin and throat. Light cream or white underside. Forked tail.

Habitat:

Old field,fences bordering lagoon.

Notes:

A few barn swallows are always mixed in with flocks of tree swallows. Then spotting and observation is easier because the reddish or orange coloring stands out more then blue black.
