White-eyed Vireo

Vireo griseus

Description:

Small yellowish-green bird with white eye and hooked beak.

Habitat:

Wooded park

Notes:

This past week, I was fortunate to be allowed to photograph some scientists that were conducting a bird survey and doing some banding. This gives us valuable information as to lifespans, breeding histories, and overall health. Banding was done by a master bander who apprenticed under another bander to learn the proper handling techniques and skills needed to select the correct band size and placement so that it does harm the bird.
