Eumorpha vitis vitis
The wingspan is 85-105 mm. Needless to say this is a large moth. However, not the largest. Very colourful. It must have just come out of the pupa
Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 6 weeks into the rainy season. It lives from Argentina north through Central America, the West Indies, and Mexico to southern Arizona, Texas, Mississippi, and Florida. Strays north to Nebraska.
Spotted at night near fluorescent lights.

Glad you enjoyed it NobleFirs. I located this moth at my home in Costa Rica, Central America. However, you can have the possibility of seeing this month in many places in this hemisphere. It is known to exist from Texas, USA all the way to Argentina, South America. There are some slightly different ones in the Caribbean zone.
Where did you spot it? Which state, or country?
