Flaming Orange Plaque Fungi

Description:

This bright flaming orange Plaque Fungi was growing on a root stump in the woods. It was absolutely eye-popping! Fungi are so important in the metabolism of dead organic material back into the ecosystem.

Habitat:

Woodland area, east of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
