Feather-antennae Cockroach

Hemithyrsocera histrio

Description:

A small forest cockroach with a unique feathered-antennae. The species name Hemithyrsocera histrio has been used wrongly many times to identify another cockroach species (Gold-bordered Cockroach). The differences between these two species are noticeable from the antennae feathers, the white middle part of the antennae, and the shade of yellow. Hemithyrsocera histrio is also more widespread in distribution than the Gold-bordered Cockroach.

Habitat:

Primary rainforest bushes

Notes:

Unfortunately the Gold-bordered Cockroach is not found in Borneo so I could not photograph it to make direct comparison with Hemithyrsocera histrio.
