Pygmy Nuthatch

Sitta pygmaea

Description:

Smaller than the Red and White breasted Nuthatches. Usually found in small flocks, this one was seen by itself and sometimes with a few others. Slate blue gray back and buff underneath. White chin and smokey gray head. Bill is shorter and slightly thicker than the other species.

Habitat:

Found in forest of mostly pine trees. Can be found trees with heavy bark.
