Heliconius hewitsoni
A distinctive black butterfly with yellow transverse bands on fore- and hindwings. Forewing length: 34-41 mm.
Butterfly Garden in Monteverde. The regular distribution is in the Pacific slope from sea level up to 1600 m.
Is OK, I will correct it. These are very difficult to ID for me. Keep an eye on the ones coming :-)
Sorry, it is the other one. Yours is Heliconius hewitsoni. Take a look at the underside. In Heliconius pachinus there is only one red stripe at the border of the hindwing. In yours and Heliconius hewitsoni there are 2 similar long red stripes.
