Plain Wren

Cantorchilus modestus

Description:

12.5 - 14.0 cm. Eyes brown. Bill thin, relatively long, blackish above, paler, often grayish flesh, below at least near the mouth. Face whitish, with white eyebrow and dark stripe through the eye. Sides of neck striped white and black. Crown, nape, back, wings and tail brown, washed gray on nape; rump cinnamon. Flight feathers of tail cinnamon, barred black. Throat, chest and belly whitish, washed gray on sides of chest; cinnamon on flanks and feathers that cover undertail. Legs grayish flesh. Males and females are similar. Juveniles are similar to adults. Three or four-syllable, whistled song.

Habitat:

Forests and garden area, Monteverde.
