Carcharodus alceae
coastal meadow
Thank you, injica and bayucca, for your help, I haven't time to find the ID in the key...
gentle strokes :D ha ha ha trying to sympathize with your problems but it's hard! no worries, I think the bugs won't be offended if you call them in the wrong way!
Yes, my ego is down when I can't find an ID and when I ID a leaf-footed bug as an assassin bug or even worser: moth as a spittlebug ;-)...
I know, but this is anyway totally wrong and I have written it under on the 1st comment, doesn't has to everywhere, don't you think so? well if you say that people don't read comments I guess you made a research about it, coz what i'm getting to understand here that nobody is actually ready what's wrote in the description while comments are still kinda lighter to swallow ;P I will add a sugg again later have to work now ;) p.s. HA HA HA little bayucca ego is whispering, what? am I hearing some vanity here :P just kidding!
And I suggest that you do NOT remove your suggestion! I never delete mines! I think it is important to know how an ID is developped and such discussions are always very interesting and fruitful. My main argument is, however: People do usually not read older comments, but if there is a suggestion, it will be noticed, so other people can put their points as well, based on the suggestions. But feel free to handle this like you want, it is not on my part to "force" somebody to anything.
AND: There might be some wrong IDs of mine as well, somewhere in the space, some i know and some I would not even think of being wrong ;-)...
bayucca I think you are definitely right, will remove my sugg, surely looks more than alceae! cause the with signs are defined rather than a bit blur!
tnx, yesterday the server wasn't working so my sugg was multiplied and I didn't go in further investigation, I agree they are very tricky but about rareness, Jopy, she is not the one who finds usual things ;D honestly, I am the one that is impossible to believe I'd spotted anything rare, but she goes in this nat. parks plus she is a biologist and probably knows how to "hunt" properly ;P
That's only my personal opinion! It is either Alceae or Floccifer, however, I would tend to Carcharodus alceae due to the markings. Baeticus is quite rare in your area. But I must admit it is a tough one to determine.
What do you think?
