Description:

Large, black, shiny beetle with "deeply striated elytra". Orangish hair on legs and under edges of protonum. Curved horn on middle of head. This species of beetle cares for their young!

Habitat:

Rockwood Park, Richmond, Virginia. Temperate forest, found under the bark of a rotting tree.
