Help me ID this species

Description:

Around 13 - 15cm long. Very alien looking thing. I believe it's a gum snout moth caterpilla but some discrepancies in the descriptions when it comes to size/location

Habitat:

On a eucalyptus branch

Notes:

Pretty sure it is Gumtree Snout Moth Caterpillar, however from what I read they are mostly in Qld and grow to around 7cm. This thing was twice that size, he was huge!

Hey wrenchpect. Welcome to PN. You're just down the road from us but that might just as well be on the moon in this lockdown.
It sure looks like an Entometa fervens larva to me but many of the other Lasicampids look similar at certain points in their development. The larvae in that family are quite variable. I would confidently put it at Lasiocampidae but retain some caution at species level ID. <E.fervens is fairly common all over Aus. though. http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au...
Nice find at this time of year... spring is sprung!
