Silvery grey leaves are ovate-elliptic, up to 12cm long and 8cm wide. The red, pink and cream flowers are up to 100mm in diameter. They are followed by larhge bowl shaped gum nuts. The colour of the flowers is due to the stamens alone because there are no petals. Sprawling in habit, it grows between .8 and 5 meters high.
