Calligrapha rowena
This is another dogwood feeder, but much more colorful than the Dogwood Calligrapha - Calligrapha philadelphica.
Thanks sunnyjosef and Anne Marie for the nice comments.
That's a beauty!
Wow!! what a pattern!!!
Thanks Keith. It's early in the season, I'm sure you'll get some nicely colored beetles soon.
Awesome spotting. One of my favorite beetles. All of my beetles so far this year have been plain black.
Thanks. It's those tiny beetle that you capture amazingly that I have trouble with.
Fyn, your macros have been very good and the converter should help, especially with the smaller ones.
I'll do my best.I'm about to get a macro converter for my fixed lens bridge camera so I might rival you in the macros ;-)
Thanks Fyn. You'll have to find one in Maine this year:-)
Such amazing colors.
Kd, we have about 2 or 3 dozen different species of Calligrapha around here. It isn't hard finding members of this genus, but I've only ever found 2 of this colorful species.
Another one! So beautiful! The season must be very good for them where you are.
