Congrats kozoga! The world’s only ocean-going lizard is our Spotting of the Day!

Darwin wrote of the marine iguanas in his Beagle Diary - “The black Lava rocks on the beach are frequented by large (2-3 ft), disgusting clumsy Lizards. They are as black as the porous rocks over which they crawl and seek their prey from the Sea. I call them 'imps of darkness’,” But the scientist could also see evidence of his then-developing theory of evolution in the iguanas. “They assuredly well become the land they inhabit.”
