The Malabar Grey Hornbill

Ocyceros griseus

Description:

The Malabar Grey Hornbill is endemic to the Western Ghats and associated hills of southern India. This is a large bird and mid-sized hornbill. They have grey back, and cinnamon vent. The long tail is blackish with a white tip, and the underparts are grey with white streaks. They move around in small groups, feeding on figs and other forest fruits.

Habitat:

They are found mainly in dense forest and around rubber, arecanut or coffee plantations.
