Fish Lek or Nest

Description:

A bit difficult to see, but I don't have the best camera. The stream is filled with these. Mounds of small stones. I'm not sure which species of fish makes these, but they may either be used as a mating lek as with some African cichlids, or as a nest. Does anyone know the species or the purpose?
