Common Yellow Robber Fly

Description:

Robber Flies are air hunters with strong legs, and can catch their prey on flight. Their head is free and shows two large compound eyes. The facial region has a convex profile with a characteristic dense bundle of bristles, called a "mystax", which protect the head and face against preys.

Habitat:

Found trapped in the bathroom of a suburban house. Local subtropical vegetation outside.

Notes:

Body length 30 mm for this specimen. Was relocated outside after pictures were taken.
