Salmon-bellied racer, Dryad snake

Mastigodryas melanolomus

Description:

Found along a trail in Cahuita National Park, Costa Rica, this snake retreated to the buttress of a small tree and then poked his/her head out to look at me. This snake seemed extremely curious and alert but never became aggressive.
