Brown Hawker

Aeshna grandis

Description:

Found it on the ground almost covered with long grass so picked it up and liked sitting on my finger. After some time it flew away. It was a bit raining so that's why it could be a too calm.

Habitat:

Around 10 m away from a pond.

Notes:

Have never seen this one before.

Thanks, yes found the same and your suggestion. This is female so should go tomorrow and find the male. Here is a nice combination of all the Aeshna species: http://www.fugleognatur.dk/forum/show_me...

Aeshna serrata
Actually, the danish names makes more sence than the latin ones... They are more structured. This type is called "mosaikguldsmed" and if you check this link you can find the latin names of all the types of "mosaikguldsmed" that are known in denmark. http://www.fugleognatur.dk/art.asp?mode=... (nr 49-60)

If it's Aeshna grandis then it should be a female, but then the eye color doesn't fit. It totally fits to the link you gave in the comment.
