Blister Beetle

Epicauta rufidorsum

Description:

The Epicauta genus counts 4 different species in the Euro-Mediterranean fauna. The Epicauta rufidorsum is easily recognized by the red head and a black longitudinal line on the back of the head. The rest of the body is black and the elytra is covered by fine gray hairs. Larvae are parasitoids of various kinds of Acridoidea and are feeding their eggs.
