Small-Eyed Sphinx Moth ( Pupa )

Paonias myops

Description:

Paonias myopsn, is a species of moth, of the family Sphingidae. It is found from south-eastern Canada, to Florida and westward, almost to the Pacific Coast. The wingspan, is 52-69 mm. The green caterpillar, has a spiny horn, on one end. The caterpillar, feeds on a variety of trees and vines: Cherry, hawthorn, birches, willows, serviceberry, and grape. They emerge as moths, late-spring and summer. Range: Throughout, North America. Pupa: one and one half of an inch long, and five eights of an inch wide.

Habitat:

Preferred habitats: include, forests and fields.

Notes:

This moth's pupa, was given to me, by my brother. My brother got this moth's pupa, from the state of Pennsylvania, during the month of July, 2018.
