Alaus oculatus
This huge beetle was 32 mm long and differed from other Elateridae I've seen because it could produce a clicking sound without flipping itself on end.
Found near what I think is a Black Locust, Robinia pseudoacacia. A few Maples (Acer sp.) and other small plants were also nearby.
Lifer!
