Family: Saturniidae, Subfamily: Hemileucinae (Buck Moth) Male (Sexually dimorphic). Wingspan: 50-80 mm (This one probably around 70 mm as a guess.) FW is yellow. HW has red streak along inner margin and a large blue eyespot boldly outlined in black on each wing. Do not eat as adults. Males use large feathery antennae to track down females. Nocturnal. Hosts: Deciduous trees, shrubs and plants including willow, maple, oak, corn and clover.
Woodlands. Comes to light.
3rd different Io Moth this season. This one had much more red and better condition than 2nd one. Smaller than 1st one.
